Superglue Gandhis announce their new drummer, Andrew Crislip
Andrew grew up in Northern Virginia and a veteran of several bands in Virginia and Connecticut, including Simon Magus (on the bass), The Gary Coleman Orchestra (guitar, vox), and Costner (the drum set).
Andrew began rehearsals on January 14th and is quickly learning the set list. The Gandhis are set to debut Andrew on March 2, 2010 at Element Lounge.
Stay tuned for more updates.
October 6, 2009
We had a long, busy summer. There were great shows with fantastic
bands, location changes for the band and personal illness.
At the top of the list are these great bands: Restorations,
Coffee Project,
Our New Nation, Everyone Everywhere, Blacklist Royals, Dammit Matthew Dammit to name a few.
We also had the opportunity to perform at the Richmond Vegetarian
Festival and Carytown’s Watermelon Festival. In fact, the only bad
thing to say about the summer music scene is this: Richmond often reaches
temperatures that are two degrees hotter than Hell.
The band also moved out of their longtime rehearsal space at Lakeside
Mini Storage. Sad goodbyes to be sure. Blast Furnace 14 was inspired
by the heat from our first space, Unit #14, and we later moved to a much
more easily cooled unit we dubbed Studio 54. We’re now out at Tunguska Sound in Ashland and we’re loving the new surroundings.
Lastly, we’ve written several new songs this summer: Hell Toupe,
Over and Done, and Souvenir. The band also has a couple
songs in the nearly completed folder as well, so a new cd should be coming
out some time in the new four months or so.
Back to Basics - Tuesday, October 13, 2009
We’ll be playing an early gig at Element Lounge on the 13th
with our old friends Licensed to Smack
and new friends At Arms Length. This promises to
be a great, little show to kick you into Wednesday morning. Come on out and
enjoy Tina’s bartending. She makes the best drinks in the Bottom, no lie.
Show starts at 7:30pm and the cover is only $5.

The Camel - June 13, 2009
We're playing The Camel with four outstanding bands, Restorations,
Coffee Project,
Our New Nation, and
Everyone Everywhere.
We kick the night off at 9pm with seven of our poppiest, punkiest tunes.
The cover is $6 and this is an ALL AGES SHOW. 1621 W. Broad Street.
Don't miss out.
Richmond Vegitarian Food Festival - June 20, 2009
We will be wrapping up the music for Vegi Fest. We go on at 5pm, but the
festival begins at noon. This is a family event, so come one, come all!
This gig is in the Azalea Gardens at Bryan Park. Come spend a sunny
summer day with us and enjoy some great eats!
Nara Sushi - July 11, 2009
Now this is what summer is all about! Lots of fun in the sun during the day
and plenty of cold drinks and good company at night! (Sounds like a song we
wrote!) We're playing at Nara Sushi with some more fun and
exciting bands, including Endless Mike and the Beagle Club and Dallas Zimmerman.
Nara is located at 1309 W. Main Street. Show starts at 9pm and the cover is $5.
26th Annual Carytown Watermelon Festival - August 9, 2009
We are honored to be playing in this year's Carytown Watermelon Festival.
We don't have a lot of info yet, but we know we'll be playing on the Crenshaw
stage near the Thompson end of Carytown. Of course, this is a free event and
we are slotted to play two spots, so come enjoy food, fun, friends and fantastic
music!

February Wrap Up
It was a busy month, with four gigs in the last 14 days. We thank every one
of you who came out and supported us. The PuddleDuck Reunion Show
was a stellar event. We met so many fun and exciting people who spent their
Valentine's Day with us at Alley Katz. We really performed to the top of our
game that night and you can see a ton of video footage from the show on our
myspace page.
Next we played with Jimmy's old band, Bossfight
at Element Lounge. This was another good performance for us and we always
enjoy seeing the friendly faces at Element. While there were a few technical
diffulties for BossFight, they put on one hell of a show for us. We also met
some new friends, Underground District, who drove up all the way from
North Carolina. They put on a wonderful show, too.
Then came the Funkbox
Show at Emilio's. Wow! What can we say? Nearly all new faces for us that
night and folks were extremely complimentary toward our set. Thank you! As
always, FunkBox really rocked the house with that funky-thing they do. Gene
particularly enjoyed hearing the guys cover U2's New Year's Day.
Last, but
not least, we played back at Element for the Headbanger's Disco Ball
Saturday night, February 28th. We can't say enough about how much fun it is
to play with our close friends from Therapeutic Homicide. While we were the
punk misfits at a metal show, we did our best to keep up with Doc, Vince,
Shara and Blair who put up a fantastic performance!
Every Time It Rains due to ship out next week
We've been working with a duplication company in Arizona and expect our
first 300 copies of Every Time It Rains to ship early next week. We went
with a standard jewel case on this album and we are very pleased with the work
our producer, The Aural Alchemist, put into this album. The sound is exactly
where we want it to be and we can't wait to get your feedback. At the same time,
we are working to add Every Time It Rains to Amazon.com as well. Amazon
will be utilized as a download location for folks who live too far away to pick up
a copy locally.
Local Xposure - 102 the X Competition, March 5th
While we didn't win the night, we feel honored to have been selected to be one of
the twenty finalists for the 2009 Chili Cook Off gig. Knowing that the radio
station received over seventy entries and that we fell in the top third -- well, that
is a win in and of itself. Special thanks to those diehard fans who showed up to
support us!
The Triple – March 27
Looks like we will be wrapping up this month right here in RVA. We’ll be
headlining at The Triple
with musician Colin Gareth and the DC-based band
Sweet Interference. This really will be a
great show and there will be plenty of
excellent music, food and drink. Showtime is 10:00 p.m. and the cover is $5.00.
February 11, 2009
PuddleDuck - February 14 at Alley Katz

and Chris and Heidi have asked us to open for them. This is an honor and we
promise to deliver a Valentine’s Day show worth remembering. Come out

Bossfight – February 17 at Element Lounge

extraordinare! The show starts at 9:00 p.m. and the cover is $5.00.
Funkbox – February 25 at Emilio’s
Our good buddies Funkbox have asked us to open
for them Wednesday night at Emilio’s Tapas Bar, 1847 W. Broad Street. These
guys are really fun and their music is fantastic. This will be a fantastic gig right in
the Fan District, so come on out and support local music. The gig starts at 9:30 p.m.
and the cover is $5.00
Headbanger's Disco Ball - February 28th
Mark your calendars. We'll be opening up for a night of metal at Element Lounge

Recap: Meltdown on 18th Street
We had a blast Tuesday night playing with VeKams and The Milkstains.
It was a fun time and we had a good-sized crowd for a cold weeknight. Zombie Doc
from Therapeutic Homicide dropped by and even helped us out when James
decided to hurl his ride cymbal to the floor. Of course, Tim (who is a great
"joiner inner") decided he had to throw his microphone stand down and in doing so
broke a glass of water on the stage. Nevertheless, we played a tight set even as
Gene stood upon broken glass and ice cubes. Thanks to all of you for coming out!
Headbanger's Disco Ball - February 28th
Mark your calendars. We'll be opening up for a night of metal at Element Lounge
and we want you all to come out. The other bands on the ticket for the evening
are: Mensrea, Synthetic Nightmare, and our buddies Therapeutic Homicide.
December 30, 2008
It's hard to believe this year is basically over. We've accomplished many of the
things we set out to do, but much more remains. Mark your calendars, January 13th
we'll be back at Element Lounge with our new friends The Milkstains. Joining
us will be VeKams and I can promise you this will be one great show! The show
starts at 8:00 p.m. and we'll be going on just after 9pm, so come on out and help us
MELTDOWN 18th Street. Element Lounge is located at 119 N. 18th Street in the Bottom.
How was the Mojo's gig on December 27th?
It was stellar! Mojo's is a nice venue and being on the VCU campus is like coming
home for the three of us. We opened for Funk Box and these guys really know
how to groove the night into shape. For ourselves, we unveiled two new songs:
Every Time It Rains and She May Not Know. The audience gave their approval
to the new tunes and an excellent time was had by all!
Upcoming Recording Session
We've been in touch with Cliff Hall about laying down some more tracks. Cliff is now
working at The Palisades and we're looking forward to getting another four songs
recorded and out to the fans. Stay tuned for more information.

Sushi Ninja - November 29, 2008
We're trying something new for Hunter and the rest of the gang over at Sushi Ninja.
On Saturday the 29th, we'll be doing an "unplugged" gig and we're in the process of
lining up at least one other act to play with us. If you'd like to spend your
Thanksgiving weekend doing holiday shopping, then why not drop by Sushi Ninja for
dinner and a few good songs. The music starts at 7:00 p.m.
Alley Katz - December 12, 2008
Friday the 12th promises to be an outstanding night. We'll be playing with
Licensed to Smack and VeKams. Right now it looks like the show will start at
6:00 p.m. and the cover is going to be just $5.00. Come out and support
local music.

Blast Furnace 14
Our EP has been selling strong and we couldn't be happier with the response we've
gotten from fans, friends and family. In Blast Furnace 14, one is presented
with four glances into modern life. Song Like Diane depicts the stress of break-up
and the fight to resist one's darker urges. In These Scars, one is shown our
inevitable subjugation to time’s forward march. Extraordinary reminds one of the
excitement with and total abandon to infatuation. And while everything may appear to be
unfolding perfectly, Snow on the Radio prompts us to act before our window of
opportunity closes.
Ramakins - November 12, 2008
We’ll be playing at a new venue for us, Ramakins - 818 Broad Street, next Wednesday
with our old friends LICENSED TO SMACK and a two-piece from Los Angeles named
DEEPSEA GOES. You need to check out their myspace sites, both bands are super!
First Review of Blast Furnace 14
As many of you know, Gene Roland works at the Governor's School. One of the first copies
of the new EP was given to the MLWGS Jabberwock (the student-run newpaper) and the paper,
in turn, decided to review the music for the student body. To read an unbiased, teenager's
opinion of Blast Furnace 14, click here.
New Practice Space
As we hoped, we have entered a new practice space and left BF 14 behind us. It was
a good space to cut our teeth on, but we're happy to be in a unit that promises cooler
temperatures in the summer-time. By the way, our new home is loveingly called "Area 54",
I guess that makes us 3 louder than the folks over at Area 51!
September 17, 2008
Colonial Downs - September 27, 2008
We’ll be playing Colonial Downs on September 27th. This is a battle of the bands and
we really hope our fans can make it out for the day. We’ll be arriving at 5pm and the
exact time of our performance is not yet set, however, the races are on and you’ll have
plenty to watch while you’re waiting for us to play. Come support us!
Alley Katz - October 10, 2008
We’re happy to back at Alley Katz on Friday October 10th. It’ll be a great night with
loads of fantastic music. The lineup is: Nobel, Superglue Gandhis, Therapeutic Homicide
and Between Names. This is an 18+ show and the cover charge is $5. Come out, enjoy a drink
with us. The show starts at 10pm.
July 24, 2008

cheap drinks (happy hour until 9pm. You’ll never have a cheaper, more enjoyable night out
than this upcoming gig.
Our Alley Katz gig (10 Walnut Alley) is a battle of the bands competition sponsored by
Gorilla Productions. We have secured some tickets at a discount for all our devoted
friends. Contact us here (booking@supergluegandhis.com) and we can get you tickets for
$8.00 in advance. The night of the show, however, they’ll be $10.00 at the door – so buy
‘em now while we can get ‘em cheap.
July 4, 2008
Our debut gig was a resounding success! Thanks to all the faithful who came to the show,
enjoyed the music and partook in fantastically cheap drinks. For those who didn’t make it,
you missed out on some fantastic bands.
Tim Crews stole the night has he performed the set barefooted wearing his NOFX t-shirt and
Utilikilt. (And, yes, ladies, there’s nothing under there but manliness!) You can check
out video from the show by clicking the “shows” tab and scrolling down the page.
We’ll be back at Pearl Lounge on July 15th with the Arctic Rose Band and Full Moon Circle.
Arctic Rose is a fantastic glam band from Charlottesville and Full Moon Circle is a solid,
alternative trio from right here in the Metro-area. Doors open at 6:00pm and happy hour runs
until 9pm. Pearl Lounge: 1713 E. Main Street, Richmond, Virginia
June 30, 2008
Our debut gig is tomorrow night, July 1st, at Pearl Lounge in the Bottom - 1713 E. Main Street.
No cover charge and happy hour runs through 9pm. We're slated to be the second band of the
night and we should be getting underway at about 8pm. Hope to see you all there. (Sadly, the
8,000 BTUs of cooling just isn't enough to cut it. Our rehearsal space remains Blast Furnace #14.)
